Larry’s Place Men’s Shelter
A safe place to rest. A place to reconnect. A place to take the next step. Larry’s Place Men’s Shelter is an overnight emergency shelter for men experiencing homelessness or housing instability in Elliot Lake and the surrounding community. We provide a safe, welcoming place to stay overnight while helping individuals connect with resources and supports that can assist them in moving toward greater stability and permanent housing.
A Safe Place for the Night
Larry’s Place operates as an overnight shelter from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. During their stay, residents have access to a safe and supportive environment, a comfortable bed, a warm meal, and basic shelter necessities.
Our goal is to ensure that men have a safe place to sleep, access to food, and an opportunity to rest and regroup while they consider their next steps. We recognize that homelessness can happen for many different reasons. Housing loss may be connected to financial hardship, unemployment, family circumstances, changes in life circumstances, or barriers to affordable housing. Every person's circumstances are different, and we believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, compassion, and understanding.

While Larry’s Place is an overnight shelter, our support extends beyond providing a bed. Our frontline team works with residents to help identify practical next steps and connect them with appropriate community resources and services.
Depending on an individual's circumstances and needs, this may include support with accessing housing opportunities, identification, income supports, employment resources, health and wellness services, transportation, and other community programs.
We understand that moving forward does not look the same for everyone. For one person, the next step may be finding permanent housing. For another, it may be replacing lost identification, reconnecting with a service provider, addressing an immediate barrier, or simply having a safe place to rest while beginning to make a plan.
Our approach is grounded in respect, safety, accountability, and personal choice. We meet people where they are and work alongside them to identify realistic pathways toward greater stability and independence.
